WiKIT is an international research organisation collaborating closely with the EdTech sector, investors, and academia. Our extensive network comprises researchers and experts in educational technology across all continents. Currently, we are engaged with clients in over 20 countries.

WiKIT originated as a spin-off from the University of Stavanger and the university remains a shareholder through its Technology Transfer Office company, Validè AS.

Meet the Team

  • Natalia I. Kucirkova

    CO-FOUNDER and CO-CEO

    Natalia is Professor of Early Childhood Development in Norway and UK. She has conducted foundational and empirical research on EdTech for the past ten years. In addition, she has developed apps and worked directly with EdTech companies, NGOs and investors to support the integration of learning sciences into practice.

    Anna Lindroos Čermáková

    CO-CEO

    Anna has a doctorate in Corpus Linguistics from Charles University, Prague and extensive research experience from several universities including Cambridge, Birmingham, and Lancaster. Her research interests focus on classroom discourse, language of children’s literature, language and gender, and research mobility. She supports EdTech companies in understanding pedagogical and ethical challenges to contextualise their products within the research landscape.

    Olav Schewe is an educational entrepreneur and author. Currently, he is conducting his doctoral research at the University of Oxford focusing on how to teach people how to learn. He has advised a number of companies on effective learning practices, including Kahoot, an edtech company with more than 1 billion users worldwide.

    HEAD OF COMMUNITY

    Polina Lulu is a child experience researcher, designer, consultant, and speaker, dedicated to enhancing learning, play, and well-being across technology, products, experiences, and anything kids touch. With a passion for empowering children, Polina advocates for technology that amplifies their voices and nurtures their development and aspirations. She is also the co-producer and co-host of the "Designing for Children's Best" podcast, in collaboration with the D4CR community, where together with industry top voices she explores cutting-edge insights and strategies for creating impactful experiences for young people.

    Dr. Ekaterina Cooper, an educator and researcher, possesses over 17 years of research experience and has empowered approximately 150 EdTech companies to leverage research and integrate evidence-based practices into their products and business development.

    Michael H Levine, PhD is a globally recognized leader in the educational media and digital technology fields. He has led innovative and transformational educational initiatives at Sesame Workshop, Paramount, Asia Society and Carnegie Foundation and is frequently consulted by policy and philanthropic leaders. He is the author of over 50 publications on children's learning and development and serves on several nonprofit and for-profit boards.

    Lisa K. Radden

    HEAD OF LXD

    Lisa is an education technology consultant and learning designer who specializes in technology strategic planning, professional development and curriculum design for K-12 schools, and UX/UI research and design for education companies. She is a Teaching Fellow at Harvard Graduate School and the Owner and Director of Learning Design and Experience at LKR Learning Design, LLC. Lisa holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's in Educational Technologies from Harvard University.

    Nora is a passionate impact and partnerships professional with work experience in the philanthropy, investing as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation space. She's experienced in setting up and advising evidence-informed education and EdTech initiatives, and has worked in different global contexts (Syria, Mexico, Uganda, NYC/US, Greece). She holds a MA in Anthropology, a MAS in International Development Cooperation and an MBA.

    Trond has founded, managed and worked in a number of tech companies, both within prop tech, software and energy. He is a qualified economist has a master's degree from UiS in economics and management, and from NHH in Bergen in innovation management.

    Ciku Mbugua

    With over 10 years of experience, Ciku specializes in working with social enterprises in East Africa, employing iterative and human-centered approaches to test and refine interventions for increased success and impact. Ciku holds an MSc in Public and Urban Policy from the University of Glasgow and works as Innovation Manager at Brink and EdTech Hub.

    UXD and LXD DESIGNER

    Taleen Alexander is a research professional with 12+ years of experience in edtech, social gaming, and mobile applications. She built and refined her research skills at companies such as Game Show Network (acquired by Sony), Crowdstar (acquired by Glu), Zynga, Epic, and Rebel Girls. She has a B.A. from UC Berkeley in English Literature and a J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law.

    Kari sits on WiKIT’s Board and provides expertise on business development and management. She has experience in marketing, sales, concept development and technology. Kari works at Valide at the TTO (technology transfer office) team identifying new concepts from researchers; working on protecting technologies through patents and copyrights; forming development and commercialization strategies.

    David is a leader in product, strategy, and operations, specializing in education, educational technology, and innovative products. He has specific expertise in generative AI, online tutoring, courses/courseware, M&A, and non-profit management within the education sector.

    Marta is a data-driven researcher with a PhD in Human Communication Sciences from Sheffield University. Dr Ciesielska has profound quantitative expertise and specializes in understanding the behavioral, cognitive, and neurological mechanisms involved in learning.

    Janine has her Doctorate in Education from The University of Otago (NZ), and her Masters in Education from Harvard University (USA), and is a researcher and writer with broad experience as a school leader, teacher mentor, facilitator of education programs, and quantitative researcher.

    Elisa Forestan-Barnes

    Elisa has a MA in Education and Technology at University College and DPhil in Sociology from the University of Oxford, specialising in inequalities of education opportunities and education policy. She has worked across the education sector for many years, first as a researcher and lecturer specialised in the research field, and later on, as the founder and director of her own pre-school.
